Smart Distribution Grid State Estimation in Networks with Changeable Topology Using Compressed Measurements abstract

These days, with the move towards smart power grid, estimation of its states is generated considerable interest, especially at the level of distribution grid. Switching equipment in a distribution grid cause changes in its topology. Due to topology is a distribution grid state estimator input, it affects the estimation results. Therefore, knowledge of distribution grid's topology is essential to estimate its state vector. In this paper, weighted least squares algorithm is modified to estimate states when a part of the network is in island mode or powerless. In addition, a criterion has been proposed to detect changes in topology as well as to identify the switch that has operated. The distinctive feature of this criterion is it is not directly dependent on measurements by using compressed measurements.
