ASSESSMENT OF A MODIFIED-SSAP FOR ESTIMATING SEISMIC DEMANDS OF ASYMMETRIC CONCRETE BUILDINGS abstract
Story shear-based adaptive pushover (SSAP) procedure has originally been developed for estimating seismic demands of planar frames. Employment of the method, with extension of the formulations for asymmetric buildings, based on the studies conducted so far, has gained fairlysuitable compatibility with results of the nonlinear response history analysis (NLRHA). Modifications of the original load pattern as well as target displacement have also been proposed for improving the method. The current paper evaluates the different parameters for Modification of SSAP in asymmetric concrete buildings with mass eccentricity under a set of near field seismic actions. In particular, load pattern modification factor, target displacement correction factor as well as influences of the response spectrum characteristics on the accuracy of the procedure, in comparison with NLRHA, have been verified. For the cases studied, load pattern modification factor is shown to be effective to improve the results, whereas new target displacement correction factors have been applied to achieve acceptable estimations. Meanwhile, response spectrumcharacteristics do not induce severe changes of responses.
