THE DEVELOPMENT OF A BINARY APPROACH IN THE EFFICACY OF THE UNREINFORCED MASONRY (URM) REHABILITATION ALTERNATIVES abstract
An applicable approach in order to evaluate the most efficient rehabilitation alternative of the masonry buildings is developed. The paper presents a simplified method of the selection process which is useful for the clients to select the most advantageous option of rehabilitation project by appraising the quick survey of the efficient criteria. The study is set up for the low-rise unreinforced masonry buildings and includes the classification of the most important parameters in the strengthening of the masonry buildings, and the factor analysis is performed to make thepreferences of the alternatives. First, it is needed to make a decision model and gather all the data in order to cover the project perspective. Then, all categorized parameters are compared in a pair-wise system; by using AHP method; in which those preferred criteria specified. Finally, based on the binary concept the model of binary approach decision-making (BADM) is utilized to analyze the decision parameters. Therefore, each criterion are simulated by the question texts which the appraiser faces two possible answers. Consequently, the most efficient alternative can be selected based on the expert judgment, clients’ objectives and also the structural data of the specific building by using the proposed procedure.
