underground transporation tunnels for cars and trains becoming more attractive means for conveying traffic especially in congested urban areas around the world . Construction of these tunnel close to surface of ground as well as their rectangular shape make earthquake loading important . methods of analysis of earthquake loading of these structures are first reviewed and comparison betwen numerical analysis and racking deformation method for a metro tunnel in tehran area is given in this paper
