Abstract:
PANHs are such a group of heterocycles, containing nitrogen atoms. This makes them better soluble in water than their homocyclic analogues, and consequently perhaps also more bioavailable. Their presence has been shown in air, groundwater, and in both marine and freshwater. 1, 10-o-Phenanthroline is a tricyclic aromatic hydrocarbon with two nitrogen atoms occurring in coal tar and industrial waste water. It is toxic and carcinogenic. In this work ordered mesoporous silica SBA-3 and its carbonized form were synthesized and employed as adsorbents for 1, 10-o-Phenanthroline adsorption from industrial wastewaters. The structural order and textural properties of the synthesized materials were studied by XRD, Nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis.
