Abstract:

Introduction: Cancer registration can be an essential component of the health information system in developing countries. Regular data collection and continuous monitoring of their quality can play an essential role in reducing the cancer burden. The quality of data from cancer registration systems is directly related to cancer patients' quality of treatment. Nurses can use the information stored in these systems as the medical staff who interact with cancer patients. Increasing the quality of this data reduces nurses' errors and increases their accuracy in cancer patients' treatment. Therefore, the researchers sought to review the published articles related to the evaluation of systems to increase their quality to improve the performance of nursing staff at home and abroad. Methods: This research is an applied study that was conducted in 1399 by the systematic review method. Using the keywords Cancer, Cancer Registry, Data Quality, Accuracy, Completeness, Nursing, Cancer Care, Neoplasm, various articles were found in the Scopus, PubMed, SID, and Google Scholar databases, including articles in the range Used from 2009 to 2020 when reputable magazines were published. Results: In this study, 100 Latin articles were found that after further studies, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, which was the evaluation of the quality of cancer registration data, on some data quality characteristics including accuracy (Accuracy) Completeness, Timeliness, and Comparability of the evaluation were evaluated and finally 28 applied articles were included in the study. All articles were retrieved, and information was entered in the form of realized tables. One of these tables includes the title of the article, the authors' names, the year of publication, the name of the cancer registration system of the region or country under review, and the data quality characteristics of each article. Moreover, the next table summarizes the methods of checking the quality of data in each of the articles.64% of articles emphasized on completeness,46%on accuracy,25% on timeliness and 32% on Timeliness. The two methods of capture-recapture and parkin-bary, were also used in most of the articles. Conclusion: Timely evaluation of cancer registration systems increases the quality of the data recorded in these systems. When the quality of the data is satisfactory, it can be an excellent source of increasing quality. Nurses' work should be in the field of cancer treatment because by using the data of these systems, nurses will participate in the treatment process of patients with more complete and accurate information.
