Evaluation of performance of total productive maintenance using overall equipment effectiveness index abstract
In the contemporary era, due to the more complex economic and social systems, the use of new management methods is inevitable. Performance evaluation is one of the management mechanisms that can serve the industry. In order to have the right tools to evaluate the performance of the organization, it is necessary that a series of performance indicators are regularly measured, recorded and provided to management and users at different levels of the organization. It is natural that by having these assessments, it is necessary for any organization to search for knowledge of the causes of success or backwardness (over time and compared to other organizations).Definable indicators of meeting the performance evaluation needs of the maintenance organization can be numerous and at the same time, depending on the specific conditions of each organization, be somehow different from each other. One of the valuable and total indicators in the maintenance sector is Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). In recent years, in order to increase productivity in the maintenance system used in their production lines, the managers of the mentioned factory have used a total productive maintenance approach. In this paper, we review the performance of the maintenance system in Mazandaran Cement Factory located in Neka city using OEE performance index to show the effectiveness of using this approach. The results indicate the potential impact of implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) approach on the factory maintenance system.
