Synthesis and characterization of magnetic ZnO/reduced graphene oxide visible-light enhanced photocatalyst for dye degradation of methylene blue abstract

In this study, Fe3O4 Synthesized through the co-precipitation method and amine-functionalized with APTES reagent. Graphene oxide synthesized through modified hummer’s method and magnetized with Fe3O4@APTES by amide bond and doped with ZnO through the hydrothermal method. Then magnetic ZnO/GO reduced in an autoclave without the addition of any reducing reagent. The as-prepared photocatalyst was characterized by IR, and the photocatalytic properties measured by UV-Vis instruments. It is shown that graphene can enhance the visible-light photocatalytic properties of magnetic ZnO in the degradation of methylene blue dye.
