Abstract:
Proper hand washing is considered as determinative agent for preventing contagion infectious diseases. The aim of this research is to compare the students’ attitude, knowledge, and practice about proper hand washing in booklet, practical, and integrate booklet and practice methods. In this quasi-experimental study; we grouped ۹۶ students of ۱۰ selected primary schools, in Tehran province, Iran country into three groups in December ۲۰۱۹. To sample, cluster random sampling were used. We collected the data by a researcher-made questionnaire including demographic (۸) and hand washing (۲۱)questions. We collected and measured the students’ knowledge and practice about hand washing in two groups by using pre and post-test. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS ۱۸ software using paired t-test(for categorical variables), independent t-test,ANOVA and descriptive statistics. A p≤۰.۰۵ was considered as significant. The mean of students' age in the booklet method was ۸.۹۱±۱.۹۳. The mean knowledge scores of students in the before and after booklet method were ۳۲.۳۲±۶.۹۸ (moderate level), and ۶۹.۶۰±۴.۶۶ (good level), respectively. The most important source of information gain in students in the booklet method was the media(۸۴%, ۲۷). In the three methods, between mean knowledge scores, and before and after learning were seen meaningful statistic relationships (P<۰.۰۰۱).
