Abstract:

Paying attention to the old and worn-out urban textures as problematic textures has a long history not only in Iran but also in the world. The passage of time and the experiences gained from various improvement and modernization measures in different cities and countries have shown that the process of improvement and modernization without the participation of the people and their non-intervention, can not lead to the desired result. In this research, the role of popular resistance in the process of renovating the worn-out tissue of Abkooh neighborhood of Mashhad metropolis through the analysis of Manuel Castells' theory, which is the winner of collective actions as the most important challenges facing contemporary society, including coordination of activities. Activists discuss the level of activity and exchange of information between activists and evaluate the strong and weak relationship between activists. (Assessment of strengths and weaknesses) is provided. In this regard, various strategies have been proposed to evaluate popular actions in order to use these systems to solve tissue problems. It is necessary for the managers and officials of the project to pay more attention to the real participation of the residents and to provide mechanisms and requirements for public participation in the implementation of the project in accordance with the conditions and characteristics of the residents.
