Comparison of Cu۰.۱Ce۰.۹O۱.۹ and ۵Cu/Cu۰.۱Ce۰.۹O۱.۹ catalytic activity in various feed flow rate in MTS reaction for hydrogen production and purification

Abstract:
Cu-Ce solid solution was synthesized by co-precipitation method and effect of ۵ wt.% Cu impregnation on it was also investigated in medium temperature shift reaction at ۳۰۰-۳۹۰ °C. XRD analysis showed that crystalline size of Cu۰.۱Ce۰,۹O۱.۹ and ۵Cu/ Cu۰.۱Ce۰,۹O۲ were ۹.۲۲ and ۱۸.۳۳ nm, respectively. Reactor tests results showed better performance for the impregnated sample at whole temperature range and all tested GHSVs, which is due to higher concentration of Cu as active metal which is dispersed on the Cu-Ce solid solution as support, and both of active metal and support have positive catalytic effect on the reaction. Effect of GHSV was also investigated in ۳ levels of ۱۲۰۰۰, ۲۴۰۰۰ and ۳۰۰۰۰ h-۱. Results showed that CO conversion decreased by increasing GHSV which is because of low residence time at high levels of GHSV.
