A Reliable Infrastructure for the SDN Networks abstract
Software-defined network (SDN) is a new architecture for computer networks that separates the network control plane from the data forwarding plane. One of the important issues in software defined networks is the numbers and the location of the controllers. For economic reasons and to reduce communication latency between the controllers, the number of the controllers must be at its minimum, and they must manage all switches. In this paper we have introduce a method for selecting the minimum number of controllers required. The proposed method is based on a binary integer programming model. The goal of the model is to minimize the cost of the SDN while considering different constraints such as capacity of controller, the delay of link and link failure. A Simulation shows that the proposed method improves network performance and is a good at solving the controller placement problem compared with others.
