Examining the impact of sex education on quality of life among elderly married women abstract

Background & Objectives:The goal of elderlies' life is to improve their type and quality of life and eventually, to improve the quality of their sex life, which can be achieved through sex education. Therefore, the current research was conducted to examine the impact of sex education on the sexual quality of life among elderly married women.Methods:In this controlled randomized clinical trial 60 elderly married women were included in the study from Neighborhood Houses in Tehran's Municipality District 6. The samples were allocated to two test and control groups through simple randomization. The demographic data collection tool and the sexual quality of life questionnaire (SQOL-F) were completed at baseline, and the SQOL-F was completed 4 , 2weeks after the intervention had been carried out. Data were analyzed with SPSS 16 using Chiindependent t-test, paired t-test and covariance.Results:Based on independent t-test results, after the intervention, there were significant differences between mean sexual quality of life (SQOL) (p<0.001), psychosexual feelings (p=0.003), sexual-marital satisfaction (p<0.001), sexual self- worthlessness (p=0.04) and sexual repression (p=0.001). According to co-variance analysis, there were significant differences between the mean SQOL score (p<0.001), psychosexual feelings (p<0.001), sexual-marital satisfaction (p<0.001), sexual self-worthlessness (p=0.02) scores and sexual repression (p<0.001) between the test and control groups.
