Abstract:
Concerns about the presence of drug compounds as part of emerging pollutants have been growing in the last ۳ decades. Drugs, especially in recent years, have played a very important role in the treatment and prevention of various diseases related to humans and animals. These substances are very active and have different interactions on human and animal organs and are toxic to many pathogens. A group of drug contaminants are antibiotics that are used as antimicrobial chemical compounds to kill or inhibit the growth of small organisms. Considering that this research is a library study with a review of previous studies and its purpose is to review the existing methods in the treatment of drug contaminants, a comprehensive research on this issue has been conducted in prestigious domestic and foreign articles. There are several methods in the treatment of effluents containing drugs, including conventional treatment methods such as flocculation, filtration and biological removal, as well as more advanced methods such as removal and adsorption methods, bioreactors and other methods are discussed in detail in this study.
