Abstract:

In this paper, the effectiveness of training marital skills based on choice theory on decreasing Sexual dissatisfaction and marital dissatisfaction. The research design was pretest- posttest with control group. Statistical population of this research includes ۳۵۰ married students of Education university of Babol. To determine the sample, initially ۳۵۰ questionnaires of Rotter's locus of control and Spanier's marital adjustment were distributed among the married students. Although originally almost ۳۵۰ questionnaires were distributed by the researcher, ۲۴۴ were returned, and ۲۰۰ questionnaires were appropriate for analysis. Among this population, ۴۷ couples both had external locus of control and suffered marital maladjustment, ۲۰ couples were selected by simple randomized method and were placed into two experimental and control groups, such that ۱۰ couples were placed in the experimental group and ۱۰ couples were placed in control group. Research tools included Golombok-Rust Sexual Satisfaction Inventory (GRISS), Locus of Control (Rotter) Inventory and Marital Satisfaction Test (DAS). Results indicated that, the teaching intervention based on internal locus of control model was effective on decreasing sexual dissatisfaction and marital maladjustment in experimental group. Moreover, Results indicated that, the effectiveness of training marital skills based on choice theory was effective on increasing sexual satisfaction, cohesion, expressed affection and marital adjustment in experimental group. Additionally, there is a strong relationship between internal locus of control, sexual satisfaction and marital adjustment. The effectiveness of training marital skills based on choice theory can be used as an effective intervention in marital maladjustment, especially sexual dissatisfaction and think of divorce.
