Synthesis and application of diazo Compounds as UV-absorbers abstract

Some new derivatives of diazo compounds were synthesized. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic data. Synthesized compounds were added to high gloss red alkyd paints UV-stabilizing agent. After a week exposure of UV radiation, the gloss of paint (92%) extremely decreased to 3% and color changing (ΔE = 3.17) were observed. In the presence of synthesized diazo compounds, the stability and fastness of paint against UV radiation improved significantly. The gloss and color changing were limited to 5 and ΔE <1 respectively. Coating stabilization would decrease cost, VOCs, and the other contaminations.
