Abstract:
In this study, eco-friendly and green synthesis of noble-metal nanoparticles (Ag) using Eryngium bungei (E. bungei) extract EBE@AgNPs as stabilizing and reducing agents was reported. Various conditions including pH, temperature, concentration and contact time to enhance biological assay efficiency and mean size of EBE@AgNPs were studied. The as-synthesized products were characterized by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) analysis. The uniform, spherical morphology and homogeneous of EBE@AgNPs with a grain size of ۴۵-۶۵ nm was observed from FE-SEM images. Also, the antibacterial activity of EBE@AgNPs was studied in regards to gram-positive bacteria like Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus; ATCC ۱۶۵۳۸) and gram negative bacteria such as Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae; ATCC ۷۰۰۶۰۳) and Escherichia coli (E. coli, ATCC ۲۵۹۲۲). Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of EBE@AgNPs against K. pneumoniae, S. aureus and E. coli were ۲۷.۳, ۲۷.۳ and ۶.۸ µg/ml, respectively
