Abstract:

The Circular Economy is a substitute for the traditional linear economy and shifting to it is closely linked to sustainable development. Circular Economy aims to increase the life cycle of natural resources and creating value from waste. The concept of Circular Economy is slowly entering into the different industries in the Czech Republic while in Iran Circular Economy is mostly concentrated around wastewater and rainwater management. In this study, barriers to the way of Circular Economy in both countries were discussed and it indicated that culture and market are the most significant obstacles in the Czech Republic, however, in Iran the most significant obstacle is the unique product design demands. The final result of the paper helps the decision-makers with a four-step guide to a transition towards more Circular Economy business models.
