Abstract:

Color blindness or color vision deficiency (CVD) is a type of ocular disease that suppresses the recognizing the different colors. Until now, the certain cure for CVD has not been discovered. Recently, tinted glasses and lenses have been studied as hopeful devices for color blindness correction. In this study, we proposed and fabricated the plasmonic PDMS-based lenses for correction of red-green color blindness. We utilized Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for fabricating the lens which is a biocompatible, nontoxic, flexible, and transparent material and can be a good candidate for fabricating the contact lenses. Finally, the fabricated PDMS-based lens immersed into HAuCl۴·۳H۲O gold solution. Our proposed plasmonic lens is based on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) phenomenon and plasmonic Au NPs dispersed in the fabricated PDMS-based lens offer a good color filter for color blindness correction. The proposed lens offers excellent properties such as biocompatibility, stability, and flexibility, which can be useful for applications of color blindness correction.
