Abstract:

Over the last twenty years, due to the researches, experiments and developments in construction and architecture, a new generation of cementitious materials named Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) which express a considerable rheological behavior, which contains workability, advance mechanical performance, durability and sustainability in performance, improved compressive strength, non-brittleness behavior, limitless architectural and structural possibilities, less use of water with remarkable qualification emerged in the industry. Some researchers and authors claimed UHPC as the ‘future material’ with the potential to be the viable solution for issues same as consistency, durability, sustainability and infrastructure components with high quality in industry. After years of worldwide research and progress, a vast amount of UHPC edition, composition and formulation have been developed in response to the considerations of industry and to cover the demand of quality and material application. This paper would recognize the principal components and characteristics of UHPC and its potentials in industry by conducting a systematic literature review with the aim of clarifying the differences, challenges and opportunities of this cementitious technology. By the research we conclude that development of UHPC is following new technological rules regarding its composition, and it is considered as one of the most remarkable types of concrete technology due to its flexible structural behavior, high compressive strength, design friendly behavior and significant durability whit wide range of different composition and formulation which could be developed for significant projects and situations.
