Abstract:

In traditional buildings of Iran, design, and construction techniques were used for providing better adaption to the climatic conditions of each region. They provided the best heating system with the lowest energy consumption in cold climates and used the architectural elements as a passive cooling system in hot climates. Orosi is an architectural element that plays an important role in creating passive cooling and solar heating. In this article, the relationship between climate and the utilized amount of light-emitting surface (glass) is investigated. To evaluate the research, three specific buildings were examined. It was concluded that in cold climates of Iran, more glass has been used in Orosi (۵۵.۶%), but this amount was reduced to ۴۷.۵% in semi-arid climates and ۴۰.۹% in arid climates. This indicates that there is a direct relationship between the climate and the glass amount, which is used in Orosi, so as the air dryness increases, the amount of utilized glass decreases, and as the temperature decreases, the amount of utilized glass increases.
