Abstract:
Most researches have been conducted on non-reinforced column bases. On the other hand, because reinforced column bases are required to make up for the lack of thickness to withstand the applied loads (especially in Iran due to the lack of high-thickness steel plates), it is imperative to examine the actual behavior of these column bases. In this research, a steel column base of wide-flange shape (IPB) was numerically modeled using Abaqus ۶.۱۰-۱ software. Analytical models involved concrete crushing and anchor rods with flow steel. The loads applied to the columns and the compressive force of different eccentricities in one direction was considered. The present study compared the impacts of the stiffeners on the stress distribution of the column base plates, increasing connection rigidity and the role of other elements in the force-to-foundation connection. The results suggested that as eccentricity increases, the effect of reinforcement on the stress distribution of the column base plate and displacement increases. When there is high eccentricity, the more stiffeners are added, the connection rigidity in the wide-flange model increases by as much as five times, indicating that the reinforcement greatly increases the connection restraint. Trapezoidal stiffeners demonstrated a better force transfer which is advisable to be used considering the economic conditions.
