Abstract:

آرمان علم غیرارزش بار[۱] (VFI) دیدگاهی است که می گوید ارزش های غیرمعرفتی هیچ نقش مشروعی در ارزیابی معرفتی نظریه های علمی نمی توانند داشته باشند. این دیدگاه زمانی به عنوان یک هنجار تنظیمی که راهنمای پژوهش علمی در مواجهه با ارزش های غیرمعرفتی بود هواداران متعدد داشت. اما اخیرا انتقادهای بسیاری به آن می شود. یکی از مهم ترین این نقدها استدلالی است موسوم به استدلال ریسک استقرایی[۲] (IRA). درباره اعتبار این استدلال نیز تردیدهایی مطرح شده است. به علاوه می توان نشان داد حتی به فرض اعتبار، این استدلال نمی تواند VFI را رد کند. زیرا جان کلام VFI نامشروع بودن هرگونه نقشی است که ارزش های غیرمعرفتی ممکن است در تعیین شواهد داشته باشند، و بنابراین برای رد کردن VFI، نادرستی همین ادعا باید نشان داده شود. کوشش هایی صورت گرفته که نشان داده شود ارزش های غیرمعرفتی گاهی می توانند در نقش شواهد عمل کنند. در این مقاله با بررسی این موارد نشان خواهیم داد ارزش های غیرمعرفتی نباید برای نظریه علمی نقش شواهد را داشتند باشند، و بنابراین به رغم همه نقدها، VFI هنوز قابل دفاع است. به این ترتیب در نهایت برداشتی دقیق تر از VFI عرضه خواهد شد.
