In other areas, maintenance of an environment suited to efficient performance by human beings and the preservation of comfort and enjoyment of living are the goals for the future. These levels of life and progress can be the basis for action programs in environmental health. As urbanization increases, our impact on the environment and the impact of the environment on us, must be controlled to protect the human and natural resources essential to life while at the same time enhancing the well-being of humans.
