Abstract:
This paper develops an architectural view on the way of how sustainability and its results can play a powerful role in oil usage. In particular, it argues the peak oil, a theory developed by M. King Hubbert, is a probable event that might happen to oil resources, an outcome that if takes place, cannot be evaded. Since Iran’s architecture is oil-related, this phenomenon and how it could be controlled with sustainability and sustainable design is the main subject that this survey is examining. The paper outlines peak oil and alternatives to oil as the energy matters and then discusses the effects of architecture and architects as a solver.
