Preparation and Characterization of Self-Cleaning TiO2 Nanofilm on Quartz Substrate using Sol-gel spin Coating Technique abstract
In this study, sol-gel and spin coating processes are used to produce TiO2 nanofilm on quartz substrates. Quartz substrates were coated with TiO2 by spinning sols, which were prepared by two different methods involving complex formation and hydrolysis, using ethanol or isopropanol. Methyl orange (MO) photodegradation test was performed inorder to evaluate photocatalytic activity. The MO removal efficiency was evaluated using UV absorbance at 320 nm. The TiO2 nanofilm showed a high efficiency of photocatalytic, that is suitable for self-cleaning applications. Prepared coatings wereinvestigated by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). UV-Vis. spectrophotometer was used for evaluation of TiO2nanofilm photocatalytic activity.
