Abstract:

Aim of study: The aim of this study was to identify the dentistry fear in ۶-۱۰ years old children referring to our private dental clinic. Methods and Material: Ninety seven child aged ۶-۱۰ years were entered the study. All children filled the Dental Subscale of the Children's Fear Survey Schedule (CFSS-DS) questionnaire under their parents supervision. Results: Forty patient were girls (۴۱.۳%) and ۵۷ were boys (۵۸.۷%). ۳۴ (۳۵%) had a history of dental procedure. There was no statistically significant difference in the mean score of fear according to age and gender (P<۰.۰۵). There was statistically significant difference in the mean score of fear according to history of dental procedure (P<۰.۰۵). Conclusion: Dental procedures in children are associated with fear and stress, and may be change children's attitudes toward dentistry are more negative. This fear has not correlation with age or gender but can be inversely related to previous experience with dental treatment in child.
