Abstract:
Fluid-structure interaction (FSI) represents the interaction of deformable structures with the fluid flow through or around them. FSI may be steady-state or fluctuating. In the case of fluctuation, the stress induced in the structure causes it to move, and as the stress decreases in the structure, it returns to its original position, and the cycle repeats. FSI is a significant and complicated issue in various fields, such as the aeronautic and marine sciences. The model studied in the present research is that of a balloon filling up with air. The wall of the balloon is considered flexible and deforms under the hydrodynamic forces exerted on it by air. Hence, the simulation is carried out considering FSI effects. Variations in velocity, pressure, and von Mises stress are studied as the balloon is blown up during the interval ۰-۱۵ s. As the velocity and volume increase, the pressure reduces. However, the pressure increases from the largest radius of the balloon up to the end in two states.
