Evaluating Efficiency of University Departments as an Open System via DEA abstract
Shahid Bahonar university of Kerman has some departments. One of them is Veterinary department that has four groups. Since teaching and research are two major tasks of its departments and they these tasks are difficult to measure. To measure the relative efficiency of a set of decision making units (DMUs) that utilize the same inputs to produce the same outputs, data envelopment analysis (DEA) as a mathematical model has been demonstrated to be a suitable method. The relative efficiency of each DMU is expressed as the ratio of aggregated outputs to aggregated inputs. In this paper DEA is used to assess the relative efficiency of these departments only for ranking in research category in 1386 solar year.
