Measuring Efficiency of Group Travel Agencies Based on a Common Weight DEA abstract
Data envelopment analysis (DEA) is a mathematical programming approach to appraise the relative efficiencies of peer decision-making unit (DMU), which is widely used in ranking DMUs. However, almost all DEA-related ranking approaches are based on the self-evaluation efficiencies. In other words, the weights for the inputs and outputs are chosen in order to maximize the efficiency score .these optimal weights differ from unit to unit and can have a very large range.. Therefore this paper proposes to use a linear goal programming model for generating common set of weights under the DEA framework. This study by taking twelve travel agencies as its statistical sample examined efficiency scores of them for testing the model Lingo software was used .the results of CCR model and proposed model are compared. The results indicate that proposed model can better differentiate between DMUs than CCR model and ranking of DMUs with proposed model are possible .
