Abstract:

It is suggested that sublingual nitroglycerine can improve the ability of T۱-۲۰۱ for detection of viable myocardium. Methods and Results: In a randomized, double blind study, ۵۰ patients who had fixed defects on stress-redistribution scan, were randomized into two groups. In group I, patients received ۰.۴-۰.۸ mg sublingual nitroglycerine, before T۱-۲۰۱ reinjection. In group II, reinjection of T۱-۲۰۱ was performed, without any previous intervention. In group I, ۱۱ (۴۴%) of the patients showed improved reversibility after T۱-۲۰۱ reinjection compared with ۹ (۳۶%) of group II patients (P=۰.۵۶). Moreover, ۶ of all patients showed reverse redistribution. This pattern was observed in ۴ (۱۶%) of the patients in group I and ۲ (۸%) of group II patients (P=۰.۳۸). Conclusion: Nitroglycerine has no significant effect on detection of reversible myocardium by T۱-۲۰۱ SPECT. Occasionally, T۱-۲۰۱ reinjection causes reverse redistribution, but nitroglycerine has no effect on it.
