Abstract:
A novel nano – sized manganese (II) coordination polymer, [{Mn(NCS)۲(L)(H۲O)۲}(L)]n , (۱) (L- = ۴,۴'-Bipyridine), have been synthesized by a sonochemical process and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. Direct calcination of the single crystals and nano-sized compound ۱ at ۴۰۰ ۰C under air atmosphere yields mixture of K۲Mn۲ (SO۴)۳, MnOS and Mn۳O۴ nanoparticles. Results show that the size and morphology of the K۲Mn۲ (SO۴)۳, MnOS, Mn۳O۴ nanoparticles depend on the particles size of compound ۱. Decrease in the particles size of compound ۱ leads to decrease in the particles size of the K۲Mn۲ (SO۴)۳, MnOS and Mn۳O۴.
