Abstract:

Since the early days of carbon nanotube (CNT)discovery,۱ several efforts have been dedicated torecognize the characteristic features of this novelmaterial for applications in various fields of science andengineering employing both of computational andexperimental procedures.۲-۵ Although the pure CNT hasbeen seen interesting enough to be investigated, butother related nanostructures have been also arisen inaddition to the pioneering CNT.۶-۱۰ The scientificaspects have been seen for years in the academicresearch laboratories to provide insightful informationof nanoscience. Furthermore, scale-up activities havelead nanoscience to nanotechnology to be moreapplicable for human needs and life quality. In additionto nanomaterials, nanodevices have been grown byexpectations for applications in fine systems. Molecularmotors and robots are examples of such nanodeviceswith attractive features and applications. Let’s thinkabout the size of mammalian cell diameter, inmicrometer, the nanodevice could work at the size ofnanometer even smaller than cell diameter, wonderful!Yes, the cell therapy is one of the important expectedapplications of nanotechnology to repair damaged cellsinside the human body. For tissues, nanotechnologycould work very well to make small-size strong bonesto be localized in different parts of human body. Fortargeted drug delivery purposes, nano-carriers havebeen seen with dual activities of carriers and sensors todeliver the drug to the specific target avoiding sideeffects. In addition to such novel expected applicationsin living systems, nanotechnology showed several otherapplications for modern life systems.
