Abstract:

The novel Coronavirus Disease ۲۰۱۹ (COVID-۱۹) afflictedmore than ۱۰,۸۰۰,۰۰۰ people and killed more than۵۰۰,۰۰۰ worldwide by July ۲, ۲۰۲۰. The main route ofCOVID-۱۹ spreading is contact with infected persons andtheir secretions on inanimate surfaces and respiratorydroplets coming out of the mouth and nose of patientsduring coughing, sneezing, and talking (۱).According to the World Health Organization (WHO),some patients may transmit the virus one to three days beforeshowing the symptoms of COVID-۱۹ and it is very difficultto identify such patients for this reason, the countriesshould revise this advice that healthy people do notneed to wear the masks. This issue will become more importantwith the reopening of somejobs inmanycountriesbecause it is virtually impossible to create a social distanceof more than one meter in public areas such as subways, buses, and shops. If this advice is not revised, an increase inthenumberof infected peopleandmortalitydueto the disease, and also a delay in the control of the disease is probable(۲). There are a number of reasons given by some organizationsand individuals that the general public doesnot need to use a mask against COVID-۱۹. Below are reasonswhy this strategy and advice should be revised.
