Strategically Transforming Governance for the New Global Economy

This paper focuses on the Strategic thinking that goes behind the Strategic Implementation Planning for the Transformation of governance to that of a citizen centric one catering to the New Global economy. This radical change needs to be well thought of, meticulously planned and judiciously implemented with utmost sensitivity and requires a thorough understanding of the socio-politico-economic scenario and their repercussions too. The maturing of the Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) provides us the media and strengths to implement the governance aspects better in the Digital economy. However, it is the Change Management, the Re-engineering of the processes, the innovative delivery mechanisms, clarity of the sensitivity of the social, cultural, economic and political nuances of the society, which would determine the successful implementation, and sustenance of the good governance initiatives. The outcomes of these initiatives must cater to the needs and wants of the citizens and delivered in a form and manner acceptable for them too. The paper tries to derive cues from the lessons learned from various Indian initiatives that could perhaps be used to guide strategic transformation of governance in other developing nations
