Abstract:

Overweight and obesity are major health problems in developed and developing countries. The aim of this study was to compare the effect of a period of functional training with consumption of rice bran and rice bran on lipid factors and body weight in overweight and obese women. In this applied study, ۲۴ obese and overweight women with a BMI above ۲۵ who were eligible for the study were randomly divided into ۲ groups of ۱۲, functional exercises with rice bran consumption and rice bran consumption. Consumption of rice bran was as follows: After purchasing rice bran product of Gilabad company, the subjects for ۶ weeks, every day, ۲ meals a day, each meal ۱۲.۵ grams, equivalent to ۲ tablespoons upside down, half an hour before lunch and half an hour Before dinner, they poured rice bran into a cup of low-fat yogurt and used it. Functional exercises were performed three sessions per week for ۶ weeks, each session lasting ۶۰ minutes with an intensity of ۵۰-۸۵ HRmax. Fasting blood samples were measured to determine the levels of lipid factors as well as body weight and waist circumference by digital tracing and tape measure before and after the study. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics including Shapiro-Wilk test, dependent t-test and independent t-test in SPSS software were used to analyze the data. Significant level was taken P <۰.۰۵.The results of the present study showed that in both intervention groups, body weight, waist, cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL variables decreased and HDL increased significantly. In the intergroup comparison, it was observed that there was a significant difference between the two intervention groups in the variables of body weight and LDL, but no significant difference was observed in the other variables.Functional exercises and consumption of rice bran are effective on obesity factors. But the combined effect of functional exercises with rice bran is greater than rice bran alone.
