Abstract:

Storms and monsoons and local winds regularly challenge and endanger the offshore supply vessels during their operations and simply threaten energy infrastructures situated throughout the Persian Gulf .When severe weather conditions develop, offshore supply vessels cease the operations and evacuate personnel ahead of the storm, and after the storm makes landfall, crews return to work, damage assessments are performed, and facilities are repaired, if required, prior to the resumption of operation. Many factors impact operations and contribute to production variability, but extreme weather is the only factor that has the potential to simultaneously impact a significant number of structures. The purpose of this paper is to examine the role that extreme weather in Persian Gulf plays in offshore operations such as anchor handling vessels and offshore installation. The weather conditions represent the major uncertain element in the supply vessels during their operations. The Persian Gulf affected by Indian ocean’s seasonal weather exchange is one of the most important waterways in the world. The expedition data base continues to grow as new data from coastal meteorological and tidal stations are added.
