Comparison of two triage methods in patients with Covid-۱۹

Introduction :Since the outbreak of coronavirus on December ۳۱, ۲۰۱۹ in Wuhan, China, the disease has been recognized as a global pandemic that has affected all countries of the world. The challenges posed by the widespread coronavirus epidemic require that a suitable triage system be used for these patients. Triage means classifying patients based on the severity of the problem in order to perform the most effective therapeutic measures in the shortest possible time. This study compares two triage methods in patients with Covid-۱۹.Search method: The present study is a review. To review the texts, the researchers searched for the keywords triage, Covid-۱۹, Corona pandemic in Persian databases and the keywords, pre-hospital triage, triage, covid-۱۹ in Latin databases. To collect these texts, Google scholar search engine and search in reputable internet sites such as pub med and sid were used. Finally, the researchers analyzed the found articles.Results: Triage is divided into two categories: pre-hospital and hospital triage. In a coronavirus pandemic, it is very important to have a triage system that responds to the large number of people who come to the medical center. One of the triage methods in the face of Covid-۱۹ disease is the use of three-stage screening tools along with secondary triage. In this method, people are screened in three separate areas and then enter the secondary triage stage, which is finally divided into two groups A and B and receive the care of that group.In another type of triage called ABCD triage, First, depending on the age of the patient, blood tests (leukopenia, lymphocytopenia, CRP, LDH, D-Dimer), CT and chest X-ray and Dyspnea take score ۱ or ۰. Then, based on this scoring, they are divided into three groups: ۰-۴, ۴-۸,> ۸. And then divided into three categories: mild (green), moderate (yellow), severe (red). And receive special care for each group.Conclusion: According to the studies, the challenges posed by the corona epidemic emphasize the importance of having a proper triage system and rigorous screening to minimize the spread of the disease. Examination of these two triage systems in Covid-۱۹ disease shows that the existence of a triage system that consists of several stages will be useful in better management of patients with Covid-۱۹.
