Background and Objective: The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus ۲ (SARSCoV-۲) worldwide pandemic has taken the world by storm since December ۲۰۱۹. Many risk factors are considered to be linked with the development of COVID-۱۹.
COVID-۱۹ mortality rates increase with patient age and underlying diseases, making the sick and elderly most vulnerable to severe infection. Patients with preexisting chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and chronic kidney disease are highly at risk of respiratory illness due to coronavirus infection. In this study we investigated the potential association of these conditions with SARS-CoV-۲.Materials and Methods: this research was based on multiple studies which were published since ۲۰۲۰, using the following keywords “SARS-CoV-۲”, “COVID-۱۹”, “age-relateddisease”, “diabetes”, and “cardiovascular disease”. Original articles were chosen from PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, and Google Scholar.Results: Age and comorbidities are strong predictors of hospital admission, critical illness, and death rate in
COVID-۱۹ patients. Patients suffering from cardiovascular disease,hypertension, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease, are more likely to experience severe symptoms. Hyperinflammatory response induced by
COVID-۱۹ is a major indicator of the severity and death rates in infected patients. Chronic inflammation is associated with cardiovascular disease, and type ۲ diabetes, and also aging itself.Conclusion: The novel

COVID-۱۹ therapies. Thus far, we know there is a certain relation between age-related diseases and COVID-۱۹. This study was a review of age-related diseases and predisposition to inflammation. Understanding the mechanisms of the relationship between COVID-۱۹, inflammation, and immunity could be helpful in developing appropriate drug therapies.
