Abstract:

Rehabilitation is defined by the World Health Organization as a set of interventions designed to optimize performance and reduce disability in people with health disorders in interaction with their environment. The field of rehabilitation is not unlike many other fields of health care in which the application and integration of valid and reliable research is in its infancy. Accurate measurement or prediction of the need for rehabilitation services is not generally possible, and it is certainly difficult to do so for specific demographic or geographic subgroups. Without accurate and credible information management practices, service providers and payers lack the tools to implement objective policy and financial decision-making at the systemic level. This narrative review aims to describe what we need to know to act in the field of rehabilitation information system. This study was approved by the ethical committee of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences (approval number IR.MUMS.REC.۱۴۰۰.۲۹۶).
