Abstract:
The preventive effect of vitamin Dagainst breast cancer can beinfluenced by gene polymorphisms.This study aimed to investigate theassociation between serum level of۲۵(OH) vitamin D and FTO genotypein clinically diagnosed breast cancerpatients.A cross sectional study was carried outwith ۱۸۰ newly diagnosed patients withbreast cancer in Tehran, Iran. Theblood samples were collected from theparticipants in order to assess the FTOgene rs۹۹۳۹۶۰۹ polymorphism by thetetra-primer amplification refractorymutation system (Tetra-ARMS) PCRmethod and the serum level of ۲۵(OH)vitamin D were assessed by the directcompetitive enzyme-linkedimmunosorbent assay (ELISA) method.The association between vitamin D andthe FTO genotype in patients withbreast cancer were assessed afteradjustments for cofounders.
