As the role of local therapy in multidisciplinarymanagement breast cancer has been evolving overthe past few of decades, so has the concept ofoncoplastic surgery. While the safety of breastconserving therapy, or BCT, which consists oflumpectomy and adjuvant breast radiotherapy, forinvasive and in situ breast carcinomas is wellestablished1,2,the idea of a lumpectomy for largerlesions has been a challenge, even when neoadjuvantsystemic therapy could be expected to downsize thelesion of interest.
