Abstract:

Scientists have achieved a new technology to detect cancerous tissue. This technology, called elastography, is a non-invasive ultrasound imaging method that can distinguish benign from malignant tissues. This technology is now available in the American market. In this new technology, a normal ultrasound machine is used with a special software attached to it. In this method, the tissue that is being examined is compressed very slowly by hand, and the reaction of the tissue to this compression, and in other words, its elasticity, is measured using ultrasound echoes (ultrasound echoes) and is used in images called elastograms. The inventor of this technology, Jonathan Ophir, says: "The important hypothesis here is that tissue elasticity is related to disease. Bright areas in the elastogram represent benign tissue, and dark areas represent malignant structures. At the time of evaluation One area can be placed side-by-side on the same screen, elastogram and sonogram, and simultaneously move the cursors in both images. Ophir's laboratory is located at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. In this laboratory, Dr. Ophir and his colleagues in collaboration with the laboratory All over the world have worked on the elastography method for ۱۵ years.
