Abstract:

The electrical resistivity imaging (ERI) is based on the analysis of the underground electric fields generated by a current flow injected from the surface to give geological information on the variations observed in resistivity values of the substrata. Initial modelling in the form of forward and inverse modelling was carried out. The objective of this initial modelling is to estimate the theoretical data by using mathematical logic as an input to the process of forward modelling. Furthermore, the results in the form resistivity models of the area, which is a set of apparent resistivity values (theoretical data), are generated. The validate with the result of the ۳D ERI synthetic model was used to demonstrate the reliability of combining ۲D ERI profiles into a ۳D data inversion. The processing of the data in ۳D can be done by combining the data from several measurements of ۲D data lines in parallel. To carry out this task on the ۲D data measurement, measured data must be processed and collated into ۳D format using a ۳D ERI inversion code. The imaging capabilities in this array for ۳D inversion code can be applied to interpretation of subsurface geological features. It provides a high-resolution image of the subsurface electrical resistivity distribution.
