Abstract:
Laser forming is a non-contact forming method which makes possible controlled forming of metal and nonmetal object on an industrial scale. Laser forming processes is used making prototypes or correcting surface irregularities as needed in the assembling of parts. In this paper, the bending angle and heat transfer in perforated and non-perforated steel sheets with different thicknesses scan velocity and beam diameters have been investigated. The experimental and numerical simulation results show that the bending angle and temperature is generally higher for the case of perforated steel sheets compared to non-perforated sheets. Experimental results have a good agreement with the numerical ones.
