Abstract:

Phonetics and suprasegmental features are usually a problem for English language students and Computer Assisted Pronunciation Training (CAPT) is a useful tool for teaching suprasegmental features of pronunciation (Timing, rhythm, emphasis, intonation etc.). We used a CAPT software named My English Tutor (MyET) and it could improve English pronunciation of four EFL students. After gathering data during a three-month direct observation, researcher’s notes, the scores from MyET Software and oral interviews. The results show that Pronunciation training using computer software generally improves using of Suprasegmental features of language and oral interviews show that learners show positive attitude towards the software, because it helps them to learn autonomy and self-confidence throughout learning pronunciation of words and phrases.
