Coordination and optimization of equipment and maintenance in a service-oriented manufacturing supply chain with two operators abstract
This paper essentially extends the paper by Jiang et al. in 2020. They considered a service-oriented manufacturing supply chain consisting of a manufacturer and a single operator. Through a contract, the manufacturer procures equipment and administers maintenance operations, then rents them to an operator who produces end products. By definition of authors, an operator refers to the manufacturer’s customers or clients. The manufacturer and operator each have different optimal solutions to maximize their own profit. For supply chain coordination, a cost-sharing mechanism is developed. The current paper extends the problem to two operators, where the working time of equipment is split among operators. In addition to the cost-sharing mechanism, a profit-sharing mechanism between operators is also required. Coordination parameters are obtained through a system of equations that require numerical solution methods.
