Investigating the effect of steel slag on the compressive strength and firing shrinkage of brick abstract
Steel-making slag is one of the waste materials of metal production, which is produced in large quantities,
anniversary. Due to the environmental problems caused by their accumulation, it has been tried to minimize their
risks by using these waste materials in the production of other industries. One of the usages of this valuable waste is
used in the production of concrete, cement, or bricks. In this research, the possibility of adding steel slag in the
preparation of bricks and how it affects its properties has been investigated. The results showed that the addition of
slag is possible in certain content due to the compressive strength of the obtained brick. Also, according to the firing
shrinkage created in bricks, slag can be used to produce bricks. This article also considered the firing temperature
of bricks containing slag. In the end, the optimal firing temperature range and slag amount were determined to
achieve the maximum compressive strength and minimum firing shrinkage
