Investigating the applications of geopolymer mixtures, focusing on the repair and strengthening of reinforced concrete structures: A Review abstract

Concrete is the most widely used building material in the world and this material can be damaged under the influence of aggressive factors. Aggressive and environmental factors can threaten the durability of concrete and cause effects such as cracking, spalling, failure, and deterioration. Therefore, concrete structures often need repair and strengthening during their service life. Various methods and materials can be used to repair concrete structures depending on the case. Geopolymer mixtures, with their various advantages compared to ordinary Portland cement, as well as being relatively environmentally friendly, are one of the attractive alternatives that can be used in the repair of concrete structures. Of course, geopolymer cement can be used in various applications that are imagined for ordinary cement. Due to their special characteristics and good resistance and performance in terms of durability, this cement can be used in applications such as coatings resistant to harsh environmental conditions, corrosion, high temperatures, etc. In this study, the applications of geopolymer mixtures are investigated, especially as materials for repairing and strengthening reinforced concrete structures. Also, the repair methods are briefly mentioned.
