Abstract:

The daily production of waste in Tehran is ۷۶۰ grams per person, which is equal to the world average, and this means that ۱۱ million tons of waste are produced in Tehran every year. On one hand, the environmental hazards of produced wastes and on the other hand using fossil fuel-derived energy which is implying more natural burden, waste management has become one of the main concerns of the government. This article tries to present a research model in the construction of a biomass power plant with the anaerobic digestion method, from ideation to exploitation and profitability, as an alternative for fuel energy in electricity production. This research investigates how the renewable energy out of biomass with guaranteed waste production would be environmentally and economically regenerative. It was concluded that the construction of engineering landfills in Tehran is essential from the engineering, economic and environmental point of view, while it is lucrative and environmentally benign.
